About Me

About the Nerd

My name is Kirstyn Todd, and I read a lot. Not as much as I did when I was little--which was so much it was actually a problem--but still a lot. I figured, since I love books so much, why not start a bookish blog? And The Nerdy Book Lover was born!

I'm a sixteen-year-old homeschooled high schooler and nerd. Why am I such a nerd, you may ask? That's a very good question, and I'm so glad you asked! I'm a language nerd, a Zelda nerd (hence the picture of Link in my profile), and, of course, a book nerd. If you catch me on a weird rant about any of these, you know it's just me being me. 😄

My other interests include: music, writing, gaming, and American Girl dolls. I play the piano and sing, do a variety of writing (namely novels, blogging, and the occasional short story), play Minecraft, The Legend of Zelda, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and Beat Saber, and I have nine dolls with which I plan to one day make stopmotions.

I live in the panhandle of Florida, not far from our beautiful white beaches, with my mom, dad, two brothers, and huge dog. I grew up here, but I was born in Texas, and I am definitely Texan in nature (I take after my Texan mother 😊).

I've never really categorized my reading tastes before. I discovered booktube I think a little over a year ago, and that's what made me start thinking about books in terms of genre. But after a bit of thinking, I've concluded that most of what I read is middle grade (mostly upper middle grade), in genres like adventure, mystery, and contemporary. This is largely due to the fact that most of my time spent in the library as a 12-14 year old was in the juvenile fiction area. I have been branching out lately though; I've ventured out a little into YA fantasy and adult inspirational romance. Fantasy is a genre I would like to get into more for sure.

I do have another blog, but I have forgotten once again how to get into the admin side of WordPress, so it's currently closed for maintenance. 🤷

If you want to know more about the blog, you can go to my About the Blog page, and if all that sounds good to you, then maybe you would consider following? Whatever you decide, you're awesome, and I hope I see you again soon!
